A documentary in the making about an ancient style of wooden ship called a dhow and a man that fell in love with them. It plays out as a call to adventure, to brave the unknown and set off toward the horizon to answer a calling to go deeper into the depths of human experience, a personal adventure of the spirit. The story of a South African Female high-altitude mountaineer and how she approaches peaks with both Grit & Grace.

The film delves into breaking stereotypes and the ability to be many things all at once. In Remy’s words “Our gender does not define us. Our age does not define us. Our adversities do not define us.”

Shot in various locations around the Western Cape, with select footage from Remy’s expeditions and drone footage by two amazing South African videographers.

Coach Lindsey Parry is the Official Coach of the Comrades Marathon, and the national South African triathlon coach. In addition to coaching both elite and recreational runners, cyclists and triathletes, Parry is also a commentator, broadcaster, motivational speaker and columnist in Runners World SA.

I work with his team throughout the year to create consistent content for their rapidly growing YouTube Channel.

“Renosterveld is the richest bulb habitat on earth, but is also one of South Africa’s most threatened ecosystems. Since the advent of farming technology, in particular the plough, 95% of Lowlands Renosterveld has been removed and replaced for agricultural development. The 5% of Renosterveld that remains is severely fragmented – with patches situated on private land in valleys and on hills too steep or rocky to plough.” The ORCT are on a mission to save the remaining remnants of Renosterveld. Babanango Game Reserve is situated in a saturated green landscape, steeped in Zulu heritage.

A Game Reserve in the making with an ambitious plan to introduce the big 5 to the area, it seeks to preserve the flora and fauna that call it home. They also partner with conservationists, non-profit organisations and the local communities.
